Hiking on Azhdahak volcano

Azhdahak is a breathtaking sight, isolated from civilisation and often free from the presence of other people. Standing at 3596 metres, this respectable summit is within reach thanks to an off-road van that will take us up to nearly 3000 metres, leaving the first ascent as the final push to the peak. The route varies from group to group; it can be as challenging or as gentle as you wish. Only one thing remains constant: we'll find ourselves at the top of the volcano, swimming in the crater lake. On a clear day, you can see Sevan, Ararat, Aragats, and the entirety of the Geghama Mountain Range. At the summit, a solitary fortress rests at the top, offering shelter from the wind, where the simplest meal of tea with sandwiches will taste like the most flavourful food in the world. As we descend to the van, a warm welcome awaits us with a classic hiker's porridge (not kasha!) and hot cocoa. After all, we've earned it.

The elevation gain is approximately 500 metres (the simplest route), with a matching descent.

The length is 4 km (can be extended to 10 km with an 800-metre ascent).
